The Japanese trailer, poster visual, and new stills for the movie “Iron Claw” have been unveiled ahead of the nationwide release on April 5 (Friday),
Directed by Sean Durkin, known for “Martha Marcy May Marlene,” and produced in collaboration with A24, a studio renowned for numerous compelling films, “Iron Claw” is based on the true story of Fritz Von Erich, an American wrestler who also found success in Japan, and his sons. The film portrays the Von Erich family, who faced a series of tragedies, eventually earning them the label of the “cursed family.” The narrative is presented through the perspective of Kevin, the eldest son and a professional wrestler himself.
Zac Efron takes on the role of Kevin, with Harris Dickinson, Jeremy Allen White, and Stanley Simmons portraying Kevin’s brothers. The cast also includes Holt McCallany as the father Fritz, Mora Tierney as the mother Doris, and Lily James as Kevin’s wife Pam. Richard Reed Parry of Arcade Fire, known for his work on films like “The Young Victoria” and under the band’s name for “Her,” has composed the film’s soundtrack.
The unveiled trailer begins with a monologue from Kevin, stating, “We’ve always been called the ‘cursed family’ since childhood.” It goes on to depict the brothers undergoing training under the guidance of their father, Fritz, a former heavyweight champion. The trailer includes a line from one of the brothers saying, “Dad’s strictness is abnormal; I can’t take it anymore,” and captures the father’s declaration, “The Von Erich family is destined to keep winning.”
The poster features Kevin holding up his glorious championship belt, flanked by Harris Dickinson in an iron claw pose and a somber-looking Jeremy Allen White, with the copy “Fight for your life.
