Yamagata Biennale 2024 is set to take place from September 1 (Sunday) to 16 (Monday, holiday) in Zao Onsen Town and Tohoku University of Art and Design in Yamagata City, Yamagata Prefecture.
Yamagata Biennale is an art festival held every two years, organized by Tohoku University of Art and Design. This edition, themed “Singing Life,” relocates the main venue from the central area of Yamagata City to Zao Onsen Town. The festival aims to be an “art festival for recovering mental and physical health through art experiences in hot spring resorts.” Dr. Toshirou Inaba continues as the artistic director for the fourth and fifth editions.
The festival will include exhibitions, events, workshops, and more. Details about venues, projects, participating artists, and more will be gradually revealed on the official website and other platforms starting from February.
