Cannes Winner “Anatomy of a Fall” to Hit Japanese Screens

“Anatomy of a Fall” is set for February 23 (Friday, holiday), and the main trailer along with the poster images have been unveiled.

The film, which saw massive success with a million admissions shortly after its release in France, is directed by Justine Triet. At the 76th Cannes Film Festival, Triet made history as the third female director to receive the Palme d’Or, following Jane Campion for “The Piano Lesson” and Julia Ducournau for “Titane.” Additionally, the film has garnered nominations in four categories at the 81st Golden Globe Awards, including Best Motion Picture – Drama, Best Actress in a Motion Picture – Drama, Best Screenplay, and Best Foreign Language Film. The award winners will be announced on January 8th.

Starring in the film is Sandra Hüller, known for her roles in “In the Aisles” and “Toni Erdmann.” The screenplay is a collaborative effort between director Justine Triet and Arthur Harari, who directed “ONODA: 10,000 Nights in the Jungle.”

The film, which was praised by Reuben Ostlund, the president of the jury at Cannes, as “an intense experience,” is a human suspense film about the death of a man who falls to his death in a snowy mountain lodge. The wife of the best-selling author, Sandra, played by Zandra Hüller, is suspected of the murder, but only her visually impaired 11-year-old son, Buko, is present at the scene. As the couple’s secrets and lies are revealed, the “truth” emerges in the form of a number of characters.

The released poster shows a disturbing image of a collapsed leg with the catchphrase, “Is this an accident, suicide, or murder? The trailer shows how the image of a loving couple gradually crumbles after the death of the husband, revealing the true nature of the couple, which is different from the public face of the couple.
