The trailer and scene photos for “Reggae Sunsplash Digitally Remastered,” which will be released nationwide on February 9, 2024 (Friday), have been released.
The film is a live documentary of the “2nd Reggae Sunsplash,” which was the last live performance of Bob Marley in his native Jamaica after his departure to heaven at the young age of 36.
In addition to Bob Marley & The Wailers, Peter Tosh, Third World, and Burning Spear performed at the concert, which was held in July 1979. The film includes live footage of the four groups, an interview with Bob Marley, and scenes of Jamaica’s streets, including its slums at the time.
The released trailer includes live footage of “No Woman, No Cry” and other songs, as well as Bob Marley saying, “I’m not singing ‘Death to the oppressed. Everyone was born to live.” The content of the film also reveals that it is a film that approaches the philosophy of Bob Marley, who was called the charismatic figure of rebellion. In the scene photos released along with the film, we can see Bob Marley at a live concert and scenes of Kingston, the capital of Jamaica at that time.
