Sheena & The Rockets’ Birthday Live to Showcase Surprise Guest Hiroto Komoto

It has been announced that Hiroto Komoto (The Cro-Magnons) will perform as a special guest at “Sheena & Rockets 46th Birthday Live” on November 23 (Thursday, holiday) at Shinjuku LOFT in Tokyo.

The concert has been held on the same day since 1998 to commemorate Sheena & Rockets’ first stage performance and vocalist Sheena’s birthday on November 23; Sheena passed away in February 2015 and Makoto Ayukawa in January 2023. LUCY MIRROR, the third daughter of Ayukawa and Sheena, who serves as vocalist, is leading the planning of the event, which will feature Ken Sumida on guitar.

Special guests include Takashi “Hotoke” Nagai of Blues the Butcher, guitarist Shigeru Suzuki (ex. Happi End, Tin Pan Alley), a close friend of Ayukawa, and Tadashi Hasegawa of Plastic Tree, known as a disciple of Toshihiro Nara, Johhny Diamond of Kitakyushu, a young band from Sheena’s hometown of Kitakyushu, and Akimatsuneo, who were label mates at Marcocias Bump, were the five groups announced.

Komoto professed that the movie “Sheena & Rockets: Makoto Ayukawa ~Rock and Family~” released in August 2023 had a great influence on his life. He said in the film, “It’s not a big deal that Mr. Ayukawa and Sheena died. The fact that they were there is what’s great.
