The second part of MUNI’s stage production “Kotoba ni Nai” will be performed at the Komaba Agora Theatre in Tokyo from November 9 (Thu) to 19 (Sun).
MUNI is a theater company founded in 2017 and led by playwright/director Reina Miyazaki. The company explores the boundary between fiction and reality in theater.
The first part of “Kotoba ni Nai” was performed in November 2022. The second part of the play tells the story of four women, mainly lesbians, Asami, Kanoko, Yuzu, and Mio, all in their late 20s, who are friends through their former high school drama club, and who seek their own hidden desires amidst difficulties. Miyazaki said, “The guiding principle is to visualize the curse (raising the issue) in the first part and to break the curse (solving the problem) in the second part. We aim to listen and talk about identity as a woman and a homosexual with the power of fiction as the present place in 2023.”
The piece is written and directed by Reina Miyazaki. The cast includes Asahi Ishikawa, Kamome Urata, Tao Kurosawa, Saeka Tajima, Haruka Toyoshima, Moe Haemori, Yamato Fujiie, Michi Furukawa, Minori Makishima, Minori Watanabe, and Hanako Wada.
In addition, prior to the performance of the second part of “Kotoba ni Nai” the video of the first part will be available for free for 72 hours on YouTube. The video will be released one act at a time over three weeks, with Act 1 available for 72 hours starting Saturday, October 21 at 9:00 p.m., Act 2 for 72 hours starting Saturday, October 28 at 9:00 p.m., and Act 3 for 72 hours starting Saturday, November 4 at 9:00 p.m.
