The film “THE BEASTS” will be released in Japan on November 3 (Friday, national holiday).
The film is a Spanish-French co-production that won three major awards at the 35th Tokyo International Film Festival, including the Tokyo Grand Prix (Governor of Tokyo Award), Best Director Award, and Best Actor Award. The main characters are a French couple who immigrate to a small village in Spain. Based on an actual incident that took place in Spain, this two-part film delves deeply into the dark side of human nature, with its self-serving thoughts, hatred, and ferocity. The first part, which focuses on the husband of the main couple, is a psychological thriller, while the second part, which focuses on the wife, is a love story.
The film is directed and written by Rodrigo Sorogoién, whose previous film “Omokage” was highly acclaimed at the Venice International Film Festival and has won numerous awards at film festivals in Spain. The film also stars Denis Menochet, who appeared in “Julien,” “Murder Without Evil,” and “Bitter Tears,” as Antoine, the husband of the main couple, and Marina Fois, who appeared in “I Am Convinced,” “Vegan’s Ham,” and “Shark de France,” as Olga, the wife of the couple.
A teaser visual and scene photos have also been released.
