“Ghost in the Shell SAC_2045: The Last Human” will open in theaters for a limited three-week run on November 23 (Thursday, national holiday).
Based on the comic by Masamune Shirow, “Ghost in the Shell: SAC_2045” is a cyberpunk sci-fi animation series co-produced by Production I.G and SOLA DIGITAL ARTS. The film version will be released on Netflix in May 2022, and the Blu-ray box set for release on November 22 (Wed.) will be the conclusion of the series with new scenes and perspectives.
The film is directed by Kenji Kamiyama and Shinji Aramaki, and directed by Michito Fujii, who won six awards at the 43rd Japan Academy Prize for “Newspaper Reporter,” following the release of “Ghost in the Shell SAC_2045: Sustainable War” in 2021. Kamiyama and Aramaki commented on the decision to release the film.
In addition, millennium parade‘s Season 2 opening theme, “Secret Ceremony,” and ending theme, “No Time to Cast Anchor The main visuals and a special news release also appeared in the film. The main visual and a special trailer have also been unveiled. The main visual was drawn by Ilya Kubushinobu, the character designer of the film.
Advance tickets with first-come-first-served special offers for the theater version will go on sale on August 25 (Fri.). The bonus is a special clear file featuring the main visual, and will be available while supplies last.

I made “Ghost in the Shell SAC_2045” as a way to personally thank “Ghost in the Shell” for the 20 years I have been with it as a director, but after a long time, I was able to look back on my feelings during the production of the series with the movie version “The Last Human” by Fujii’s team and realize how much I loved the Major. I was so happy to see the movie version of “The Last Human”. Once again, I want to say thank you to Motoko Kusanagi. I would also like to thank Director Fujii for confirming that.

I remember that during the production of Season 2, I had a hard time deciding how to express the complex and enormous amount of information in the form of images. I am confident that the newly reconstructed film from Director Fujii’s point of view will completely transcend the framework of a compilation film, as was the case with Season 1, and will be re-created as a new theatrical film. I hope you will all enjoy it as well!
