Ueno’s Tokyo Metropolitan Art Museum will hosts Giorgio De Chirico: Metaphysical Journey, from April 27 (Sat) to August 29 (Thu), 2024.
Giorgio de Chirico was an Italian-born painter who began painting around 1910. His “metaphysical paintings,” which express an extraordinary world through fantastic landscapes and still lifes, influenced many artists and art movements.
This exhibition will be the first large-scale solo exhibition of Giorgio de Chirico’s paintings in Japan in 10 years, and will introduce a wide range of his work. Giorgio de Chirico’s work spanning approximately 70 years will be divided into themes such as “Piazza Italia,” “Metaphysical Interior,” and “Manukan,” and works from his early years to his later years will be exhibited.
