The 102nd work in the “Tadanori Yokoo: 100 Takes on Hanshan and Shide” exhibition, which will be held at the Tokyo National Museum’s Hyokeikan in Ueno, Tokyo, from September 12 (Tue) to December 3 (Sun), is now complete.
The exhibition will feature a series of completely new paintings by contemporary artist Tadanori Yokoo, who has reinterpreted “Kanzan Jitoku,” two legendary poetic monks who lived during the Tang Dynasty in China, in his own unique way. This is the largest series of works in Yokoo’s career as a painter to date. The exhibition was originally planned to feature 100 new works created over a period of 18 months, but the 101st work was completed in February 2023. The 101st work was completed in February 2023, and another new work was completed in June, bringing the total number of works on view at the exhibition to 102.
Advance tickets will go on sale on Tuesday, August 8, and an official catalog featuring all 102 works in color and advance tickets will be available at a discount.
