Kenshi Yonezu appears in Loewe’s FW23 men’s campaign, which started on Monday, August 7.
In the photos released to the public, Yonezu wears Loewe’s latest collection, including a twisted coat made of soft lambskin and a pixelated jeans and denim jacket. The shoot took place in a studio that was said to recreate Yonezu’s “creative space,” with French photographer Arnaud Lajni as photographer amidst a collection of poetry books, novels, manga, art books, and musical instruments, including works directed by Hayao Miyazaki of Studio Ghibli and Kenji Miyazawa’s “Spring and Shura” that Yonezu was influenced by.
A FW23 men’s collection pop-up event was also held at Casa Loewe Tokyo in Ginza, Tokyo and Loewe Omotesando in Kita-Aoyama, Tokyo, from August 16 (Wed) to 23 (Wed). The “Angel Wings” look worn by Yonezu and other show pieces presented on the runway will be imported from Paris and displayed.
In addition, Yonezu will be featured on the cover of a special edition of the magazine “HIGHSNOBIETY JAPAN,” which will go on sale on September 1 (Fri.), with a 16-page interview.
LOEWEクリエイティブ ディレクター ジョナサン・アンダーソンのコメント:
Collaborating with one of Asia’s most influential music artists, Kenshi Yonezu is an honor. In my collections, I often explore the male sensibility, and I feel that the ambiguous and introspective energy of Yonezu’s music resonates with Loewe’s menswear. The timing is also perfect, as this year marks the 50th anniversary of Loewe’s expansion in Japan. I look forward to continuing this meaningful cultural dialogue in the future.”
