“David Hockney Exhibition” will be held at the Museum of Contemporary Art Tokyo in Kiyosumi-Shirakawa, Tokyo, from July 15 to November 5.
David Hockney is a painter currently based in Normandy, France, whose 80th anniversary retrospective exhibition in 2017 traveled to Tate Britain in London, England; the Centre Georges Pompidou in Paris, France; and the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York, USA.
This is the first time in 27 years that a major solo exhibition of David Hockney’s work has been held in Japan. In addition to numerous representative works created in various parts of the UK and Los Angeles, the exhibition will feature approximately 120 works, including the recent “Arrival of Spring” series of landscapes and a new 90-meter-long work drawn on an iPad during the lockdown of COVID-19.
