The 11th Hiroshima Prize Commemorative Exhibition of Alfredo Jaar will be held at the Hiroshima City Museum of Contemporary Art from July 22 to October 15.
Alfredo Jaar is an artist who attracted attention in the mid-1980s for his works using photographs and light boxes, as well as outdoor billboards. He has communicated social, political, and humanistic issues through the display of his works in public spaces and beautiful installations that appeal to the senses with photography, video, and architectural forms of space.
The Hiroshima Prize is awarded every three years to artists who have contributed to peace in the field of art, and Alfredo Jaar is the winner of the 11th Hiroshima Prize. Alfredo Jaar’s first full-scale solo exhibition in Japan will feature new works on the theme of Hiroshima, as well as his past representative works.
