Machiko Kyo

Born in Tokyo. Graduated from Tokyo University of the Arts and Setsu Mode Seminar. In 2005, "Sen-nen Gaho" was selected for the 1st Almost a Day Manga Grand Prix, and in 2006 and 2007, "Sen-nen Gaho" was selected for the Japan Media Arts Festival's "Jury Recommended Works" for two consecutive years. In 2010 and 2013, "cocoon" and "Anone," respectively, were selected as "Jury Recommended Works" at the Japan Media Arts Festival.
In 2014, "Mitsuami no Kamisama" won the Tezuka Osamu Cultural Award Shinsei Prize, and in 2015, "Ichigo Senso" won the Japan Cartoonists Association Award Grand Prize (Cartoon Division). His other works include "Mikako-san," "Kakoto Mirai," "U," "5 to Count Your Dreams," and many others.
