rockin’on sonic Announces 2026 Return

The international music festival rockin’on sonic is set to return for its second edition in 2026. Hosted by Rockin’ On Japan—the organizers behind ROCK IN JAPAN FESTIVAL—with Creative Man managing artist bookings and production, the inaugural 2025 festival featured headliners PULP and WEEZER and was met with widespread acclaim.

The 2026 edition will take place as a single-day event on Sunday, January 4, at Makuhari Messe. While a two-day format was initially preferred, venue availability and the New Year holiday schedule limited the festival to one day. Organizers plan to pack maximum energy and excitement into this condensed format.

The festival will use the same areas as last year, including the GALAXY STAGE and COSMO STAGE from COUNTDOWN JAPAN, as well as food and beverage zones. COSMO STAGE will be expanded for the second edition. Organizers aim to combine the advantages of an indoor winter festival with urban accessibility while elevating production quality and overall festival experience.

The lineup will be announced in stages, with the festival maintaining its original concept of pairing established international acts with emerging artists highly regarded by both young fans and core audiences.

Ticket prices will increase from ¥18,000 to ¥19,500 to help offset losses from the first edition and ensure the festival’s long-term sustainability.

General producer Yoichiro Yamazaki commented: “The first festival was an incredible experience thanks to attendees and artists alike. We’ve learned a lot and are excited to bring an even more concentrated and dynamic event in 2026. We look forward to seeing everyone at Makuhari Messe on January 4.”
