NiEW is set to host exPoP!!!!! Vol.172, a free-entry music event, on April 25 (Friday) at Spotify O-nest in Shibuya, Tokyo. The event, sponsored by TuneCore Japan, will showcase four exciting acts: xiangyu, Doul, Yasashii Mirai, and Cosmic Mauve.
xiangyu, a rising singer and artist who began her live performance career in 2018, has steadily made a name for herself. In November 2023, she released the concept EP OTO-SHIMONO, which was produced by gimgigam. Looking ahead, she will release her first full album, Enryo no Katamari, on April 25, 2025, featuring collaborations with Tavito Nanao and Kuro from TAMTAM. The album incorporates elements of Baltimore breaks and baile funk. xiangyu has also appeared at festivals such as MAGICHOUR and Yui no Oto, further cementing her presence in the music scene.
Doul is an artist who fully oversees all aspects of her creative process, including songwriting, composing, fashion coordination, and music video production, with all her lyrics written in English. Her debut track “16yrs,” released in September 2020, garnered significant attention, streaming in 90 countries worldwide on Spotify. She was also selected for Spotify’s “RADAR: Early Noise 2021.” In March 2022, Doul released her first full album W.O.L.F and embarked on her first solo tour, performing in four cities across Japan. She has also graced the stages of major festivals such as SUMMER SONIC and FUJI ROCK FESTIVAL, solidifying her presence in the music scene.
Yasashii Mirai, who secured a spot through an audition hosted by TuneCore Japan, is a mix-genre band from Yokohama formed in 2022. The band is led by high school classmates Ren Matsumoto (Vocals / Guitar) and Yumu (Rap), who has experience in the High School Rap Championship. The group has been steadily releasing music, with their latest EP Complex launched in March 2025. Their distinctive sound blends elements of Black music and J-POP, featuring mellow, sweet vocals and deep, bass-driven rap. Their live performances are supported by two additional members.
Cosmic Mauve is a summer band formed by five childhood friends from Machida City, Tokyo, who share a love for the season. Influenced by a diverse range of genres including city pop, soul, rock, and country, the band expresses the comfort of everyday life and the various aspects of summer through their lively, upbeat sound. In 2025, they are set to release their new track “See ya!” after an eight-month hiatus, along with a collaborative EP SPACE CANDY featuring singer-songwriter Qnel, continuing to build momentum in their musical journey.
