The survival thriller ‘ACIDE,’ set to be released on August 30, has unveiled its main footage.
The film, which was featured in the Midnight Screenings section at the 76th Cannes Film Festival, screened at the Sitges Catalonia International Film Festival, and has been nominated for Best Visual Effects at the 2024 César Awards, is set in a world ravaged by extremely high-concentration acidic rain that melts everything in its path. It portrays the desperate escape of people trapped in this extreme situation. Directed by Just Philippot, who made his feature debut with the 2020 Netflix film The Swarm, the movie is known for its dynamic wide shots and visual effects that vividly depict the approaching deadly clouds and the horrifying acidic rain that dissolves cars and buildings.
The newly released footage, unveiled on the 29th, includes shocking scenes of people dissolving. Individuals who have fallen from a collapsed bridge are desperately trying to escape from a river poisoned by acidic rain. Their hair starts to melt, and even those who manage to reach the shore are succumbing to their fate.
