Rei brown, originally from Kobe and currently residing in New York, reveals plans for his inaugural North American tour set to take place in May.
After spending his early years in his hometown of Kobe until the age of 18, rei brown relocated to the United States for university studies. He pursued songwriting at Berklee College of Music in Boston and went on to release his debut album, “Xeno,” in 2022. Drawing influences from 90s pop-rock, techno, and nu-metal, the album revolves around his experiences with “Xenophobia.” In the same year, he served as the opening act for the Japan tour of keshi, a Vietnamese-American artist, marking his debut performance in Japan.
Furthermore, rei brown, also hailing from Kobe and affiliated with 88rising, has been childhood friends with artist Joji. They collaborated on Joji’s album “Nectar,” released in 2020, contributing to the track “Normal People.” Additionally, they teamed up again for a collaborative song on rei brown’s album “Xeno,” specifically on the lead single “Thinking Bout You,” released in 2022.
The North American tour, announced today, kicks off with a performance in Austin, Texas, on May 3rd (Friday), and spans 8 cities, concluding with a show in Los Angeles, California, on May 14th (Tuesday). Tickets are available for general sale starting February 23rd (Friday) local time.
On February 9th (Friday), he released his latest single “Get Me Out,” which explores mental health issues experienced during his tour with keshi. The track features co-production by Frankie Scoca, known for his work with NewJeans’ “Super Shy.” The music video for the song, featuring Japanese narration, is set to be showcased as a short film at the ‘FILM & TV FESTIVAL’ of ‘SXSW 2024’ in Austin, Texas, scheduled for March.
