The stage play “Koufuku na Shima no Yoru” by Emban ni Noruha will be performed at the Komaba Agora Theatre in Tokyo from Thursday, October 26 to Sunday, November 5.
Emban ni Noruha is a theater project started in 2018 with Kageyama Kishodai as its representative. The project pursues works that launch into the theater without compromising the “freedom” and “richness” of everyday life, and extends its methods to the nature of the collective, aiming to create “a time for multiple artists and expressionists to be flat together, a place where they can be where they are supposed to be. The current project team, in addition to Kageyama Kishodai, includes Geta Hiyori (actor), Shun Hatakeyama (actor), and Suzu Shibuki (advisor/watcher).
The performance is a science fiction fable set on a fictional island that has become independent and cut off from history due to a revolution, with the theme of “the self as the most uncanny other”.
A related event, “Symposium on Finding Reality Again,” will be held during the performance. The symposium will be moderated by Chisato Sone, and in addition to Kageyama Kishodai, other speakers will include Miyuki Ozawa (editor/writer), Minami Kitamura (illustrator, filmmaker, manga artist), Izumi Enaga (critic), and MARINA LISA KOMIYA(artist/artist).
