The stage production of Mark Twain and the Wonder Boy will be staged at the New National Theatre in Shibuya, Tokyo and COOL JAPAN PARK OSAKA WW Hall in Chuo-ku, Osaka.
The play is an original work based on “The Mysterious Boy,” which was published based on the posthumous manuscript of Mark Twain, known for “The Adventures of Tom Sawyer,” and interlaced with Twain’s own life. The film depicts a mysterious boy, Satan, whom Twain encounters while dictating “The Autobiography of Mark Twain,” and Twain’s attempt to change the future and create his own work in defiance of Satan.
Mark Twain’s real name, Sam Clemens, and Sam’s wife, Olivia, are played by Tetsuya Bessho and Miwako Kakei, respectively. In addition, the boy from the novel “The Mysterious Boy” is played by Hirano Generation, who appeared in dramas such as “Come Come Everybody,” and the young Mark Twain from the autobiography written by Sam is played by Shunya Shiraishi, who appeared in stage productions such as “King John.
The play will be performed at the New National Theatre in Shibuya, Tokyo, from September 9 (Sat) to 24 (Sun), and at COOL JAPAN PARK OSAKA WW Hall in Chuo-ku, Osaka, on September 30 (Sat) and October 1 (Sun). Tickets will go on sale to the general public on August 6.
