#Tamura Meimi

She grew up surrounded by theater from a young age. Starting in the early elementary school years, she took the stage in community and junior musicals, aspiring to become a musical actress. From age 12 to 17, she spent her days as an idol in the adult world. Behind the glitzy scenes, she quietly grappled with her true self and her desire to remain a child. She made her debut as a musical actress at age 18. She subsequently expanded her activities as a singer, and as she deepened the range of her expression in both music and theater, she began to harbor a longing not only to “perform” but also to “create” works. The COVID-19 pandemic sparked a sense of crisis in her regarding the future of musicals as a form of expression, and during the lockdown, she began to focus on “writing”—something she had loved since childhood. Through her numerous stage appearances, she came to realize that theater is never the work of a single person, and her commitment to artistic expression has grown stronger with each passing year. To preserve and give shape to the worldview she truly cherishes, she has launched her creative activities in earnest as Meimi Tamura. As one manifestation of this, she founded the theater unit “Koume-chan.”
