If you spend all day listening to the dance channel on BBC SOUNDS, you will be amazed at the variety of music on offer. From the latest tracks to classics, from pop tunes to underground bass music, dance music is played one after another from various eras. This is the kind of music that sensitive teenagers can easily fall in love with. This is how the UK connects music from one generation to the next, and the messages in Romy’s songs are just as important as the ones you get at clubs and parties. The messages in Romy’s songs are all the same as those received by my generation who experienced partying in the 1990s. Seeing her deliver these messages head-on, it seems to me that even though the sound has evolved, the core of her music is the same. I think that is the reason why she is supported by people of all generations. Anyway, everyone is looking forward to a party that will make them forget about their daily lives.

I can’t wait to see what kind of music Romy will play during her set at Fuji Rock, and I’m sure her album, which will be released in September, will be filled with various forms of her beloved dance music. Originally, I wanted to write about the UK dance scene after dubstep in the past decade, focusing on the activities of Romy’s generation, but the article became longer than I had imagined at the beginning of the article. The UK scene is now dominated by the generation that started their careers in the early 2010s, and is going through a period of change and becoming a major trend. This has led to an expansion of musical freedom in the party music scene. This situation has given the younger generation the opportunity to reconstruct the beats of the 1990s with a new sensibility. There were artists such as Ferd Again…, TSHA, Jayda G, and Jayda G. TSHA, Jayda G, Barry Can’t Swim, Peggy Goo, and many others. I’ll delve into that next time. To the few Japanese party freaks out there, I would say, anyway, don’t miss Romy, TSHA, and THE BLESSED MADONNA at “Fuji Rock” and Slowthai at “Summer Soni”!
