The fourth wave of performers for ‘FESTIVAL de FRUE 2024,’ happening on November 2nd (Sat) and 3rd (Sun, holiday) at Tsumagoi Resort Sainosato in Kakegawa City, Shizuoka, has been revealed.
Previously announced acts like Acid Pauli, Shintaro Sakamoto, and Ayano Kaneko are now joined by five additional artists, including a pianist and a dancer, with day-specific schedules also confirmed.
Jean-Philippe Rykiel, a blind pianist, will make his Japan debut alongside balafon player Lansine Kouyate. Returning for the second year, Kaho Nakamura will collaborate with pianist Amaro Freitas for several session pieces. The band Triple Fire will perform as a seven-piece group, with the addition of three support members. Ainu traditional music duo Kapiw & Apappo will bring their “Upopo” songs, bamboo mouth harps (“Mukkuri”), and the Sakhalin Ainu string instrument “Tonkori” to the stage. Lastly, dancer Kaho Kogure will lead a dance workshop on the morning of the second day.
Marking its 8th edition in 2024, ‘FESTIVAL de FRUE’ is an outdoor event curated by FRUE, which has been inviting musicians from all corners of the globe since its inception in 2012. The next announcement will unveil the full lineup.
