The US release date for the sequel to Disney’s animated feature ‘Moana,’ titled ‘Moana 2,’ has been confirmed for November 27th (Wednesday). The US version’s teaser trailer and first look have been revealed. However, the release date for Japan is currently undecided.
‘Moana’ which was released in Japan in 2017, is based on a mysterious legend passed down from generation to generation on the islands of Polynesia, where the beautiful sea stretches out magnificently. In Japan, the film was a hit with an audience of 4.23 million and a final box-office revenue of over 5.16 billion yen. The song “How Far I’ll Go” was nominated for Best Song at the 89th Academy Awards and the 74th Golden Globe Awards.
The film is directed by Dave Derrick, Jr. This will be his first time working on an animated feature film. The music, one of the attractions of Disney animation, will be composed by Abigail Barlow and Emily Bair, who won the “Best Musical Theater Album” award at the 64th Grammy Awards. Also participating in the project are Opetaia Foai and Mark Mancina, who also wrote the music for ‘The Lion King’ and ‘Tarzan,’ as they did for the previous film.
