The exhibition “Eiko Ishioka I Design” will be held at the Museum of Modern Art, Ibaraki in Mito, Ibaraki from April 27 (Sat) to July 7 (Sun).
Eiko Ishioka, who presented new values to people as a designer and art director and was active internationally in a wide range of fields including advertising, theater, and film, is once again attracting attention both in Japan and abroad 10 years after her death, including a large-scale retrospective exhibition at the Museum of Contemporary Art Tokyo from 2020 to 2021. The exhibition will feature the works of Shiseido and Eiko Ishioka.
In this exhibition, approximately 500 works, mainly representative works from the first half of her life, including advertisements for Shiseido and PARCO, are on view at once, imprinted with her insatiable passion. The exhibition will explore the essence of Eiko Ishioka’s work, which still shines brightly today.
Ishioka’s goal was to hone his “true self power. With this belief in mind, Ishioka continued her creative journey of creating innovative visuals while working with collaborators from different cultures and values. This exhibition will highlight the “I = I” that was at the core of Eiko Ishioka’s creativity.

Admission is free on Saturday, April 27 for those aged 70 and over.
