UNIQLO has unveiled a new collection from its ongoing charity initiative PEACE FOR ALL, available starting Friday, June 20.
Launched with the goal of promoting world peace through action, the PEACE FOR ALL project brings together collaborators who support its mission to raise awareness and funds for people affected by poverty, discrimination, violence, conflict, and war. All profits from the T-shirt sales are donated to international organizations addressing these issues. Since its inception, the project has drawn participation from a wide range of cultural icons, including Haruki Murakami, Tadao Ando, Daido Moriyama, Haruka Ayase, Wim Wenders, and Roger Federer.
Joining the initiative for the first time are two major Japanese figures: former MLB star Ichiro and acclaimed actor Koji Yakusho.
Ichiro’s design features a playful illustration of someone knocking on a door, intended to evoke the excitement and courage that come with discovering a new passion and taking on a new challenge.
Yakusho’s design draws inspiration from the award-winning film PERFECT DAYS, in which he played the lead role. The T-shirt captures a striking scene from the film alongside the protagonist’s reflective line: “Next time is next time. Now is now.”
In addition to the new collaborations, longtime PEACE FOR ALL contributors Kashiwa Sato and Akamai Technologies have released updated T-shirt designs as part of the latest drop. Comments from all participating creators accompany the new releases.
■ Ichiro (Seattle Mariners)
Find what you love and open the door. A wonderful world surely awaits on the other side.■ Koji Yakusho (Actor)
The line ‘Next time is next time. Now is now.’ feels like someone gently comforting a child throwing a tantrum. It’s spoken by Mr. Hirayama, the protagonist of the film PERFECT DAYS, to his niece who has run away from home. The line conveys a message of gratitude for everything, and that by valuing this very moment—not the future or the past—the pain in one’s heart can fade away. It’s a phrase that stayed deeply with me.■ Kashiwa Sato (Creative Director)
I designed this with the desire to convey “PEACE” in a straightforward and simple way.
The repeated phrase “PEACE FOR ALL” represents the voices of many people around the world, as well as a heartfelt and powerful wish for a peaceful world.■ Akamai Technologies (Cloud Company)
Over 25 years ago, Akamai helped lay the foundation for the internet as we know it today—a world where the internet can be freely and easily accessed. This T-shirt design is a tribute to the early days of the internet. The color is inspired by the plastic casing of computers once nicknamed the “beige box.” The heart on the chest symbolizes how the internet has connected people and guided us toward a better world.
The print on the back of the T-shirt features actual code, representing the open-source Linux operating system that underpins the internet’s infrastructure. With the power of these universal languages beloved worldwide, Akamai hopes to connect leading brands with users everywhere and build a safer, more connected future together. This vision is embodied in this T-shirt.
