The French film ‘It’s Not Me’ will be released in theaters nationwide on April 26 (Sat).
The film is directed by Leos Carax, the director of ‘The Lovers on the Bridge,’ and was screened in the Cannes Premiere section of the 77th Cannes International Film Festival. The film pays homage to Jean-Luc Godard, the famous French director who brought us ‘The Lovers on the Bridge,’ and is a 42-minute spectacle that encapsulates everything Carax has to offer.
The impetus for the production came from an exhibition of Carax’s work organized by the Centre Georges Pompidou, a contemporary art museum in Paris. The Pompidou’s “Where are you now? (Où en êtes vous, Leos Carax?). Thierry Frémaux, director of the Festival de Cannes, described the film as “an aesthetic essay, dazzling and very fine.
A scene photo was also released. These include a mysterious cut of a body floating off a diving board against the shimmering surface of water reflected in the ceiling, a scene in which Meld (Denis Laban), the monster from “TOKYO!” strolls through a park with Carax, and Carax lights a cigarette at the bedside where his dog is relaxing. And a cut of the moment when the lightning bolt strikes captures a profile of Karacz’s daughter, Nascha Golubeva Karacz.
The film will also be screened at the “Yokohama French Film Festival 2025,” which will be held from March 20 (Thu., holiday) to 23 (Sun.) in the Minato Mirai 21 district of Kanagawa Prefecture, prior to its release. Director Leos Carax is scheduled to visit Japan for the festival.
