Sentosa Sensoryscape, an immersive attraction on Singapore’s Sentosa Island, opened in March. It offers “ImagiNite,” a nighttime digital art experience.
Sensoryscape is a promenade that was created as the first spot for the Sentosa Island Redevelopment Plan, which is underway from 2019. “ImagiNite” offers simultaneous video, light, sound, and AR experiences on the 30,000-square-meter site. In line with the concept of “Sixth sense of imagination,” visitors can enjoy an immersive experience that awakens their “six senses,” which are their five senses plus their imagination. A Japanese company, OneToTen Inc. was in charge of planning and production, and a local company, Hexogon Solution Pte Ltd. was in charge of equipment design.
“ImagiNite” consists of six gardens and two walkways (Upper Deck). In addition to video and light projections, visitors can experience content that takes advantage of Sentosa’s natural surroundings, such as babbling water flowing through the grounds, touchable flower beds, and plants that stimulate the senses of taste and smell. The projection images combine digital art and hand-drawn illustrations to create an imaginative and unrealistic impression, while at the same time creating the warmth of handmade art. The “Climax Moment,” which occurs approximately every 20 minutes, is a dynamic moment in which the gardens and Sensoryscape come together as one.
The experience using the iPhone / Android application “ImagiNite” will also be offered. The application features an AR camera that allows users to take photos using the AR function at compatible spots, “Hyperzoom,” a camera installed at high locations in the facility that allows users to take high-resolution long-distance photos, and a facility guide, making it possible to further enjoy the charm of Sensorscape, which varies by time of day.
“ImagiNite” is offered free of charge every night as a nighttime economy. The application is available for free download from various stores.
