Seinendan Link Cui’s short story “Hizyoni Samazamana Kenkou no Zizyou” will be performed at Kanagawa Youth Center Studio HIKARI from November 1 (Wed) to 3 (Fri).
Seinendan Link Cui was founded in 2011 by its leader, Yuki Ayato, and has been active as a production unit without a dedicated actor. This will be the last performance by Seinendan Link Cui, as Seinendan’s production department will be disbanded in the summer of 2023, and Seinendan Link will also be dismantled.
In this performance, three pieces will be presented: “Hizyoni Samazamana Kenkou no Zizyou” “Eikyu ni Kiokusuru Kemuri” and “Humin Hukyu”. The director of “Hizyoni Samazamana Kenkou no Zizyou” is Yuki Ayato, and the performers are Yukiko Iwai, Yuka Nishimura, and Saori Hori. “Eikyu ni Kiokusuru Kemuri” is directed by Kengo Kodama and performed by Tomoki Omi and Haruno Yamada. The director of “Humin Hukyu” is Urin Miura, and the performers are Ken Sugiyama and Huuko Nishi.
Seinendan Link Cui will continue its activities as Cui, and is scheduled to present a new performance “Yoteisareta Kodoku” in April 2024.

There is a manga artist that I like, Ms.Suzume Takano.
I especially love “Shomonai Nouryou”.
I don’t know much about the early days of the company (I was in junior high school), but it seems that the Seinendan Link system was created to support young people at a time when they had never even seen a play in Tokyo.
This will be the final performance of the Seinendan Link group.
Contrary to the weight of the current of reality, I created a very light-hearted new piece.

My name is Kengo Kodama. The play I am directing this time, “Eikyu ni Kiokusuru Kemuri” is a play about a fictional hell that is rough and somewhat realistic. It is a play, so naturally it is mostly fiction, but Mr. Ayato’s play has a sharpness that pierces through the thin curtain of fiction.
I thought it might be dangerous to leave it as it is, so I made a number of stage directional considerations to avoid exposing the audience to danger. Let’s enjoy it safely. It is a fiction, after all.

My name is Miura, and I will be performing “Humin Hukyu”.
When we were planning this performance, Mr. Kodama and I were each asked by Mr. Ayato to perform this play. Many young directors are rarely invited (or selected) as directors because they perform with their own groups.
It is an indescribable joy to be asked to direct this play, but I also stop and reflect on what Mr. Ayato wants from me as a playwright and what I and my team should do in response to the play.
It will be interesting to compare the three plays and the responses of each team.
