MPLUSPLUS’ exhibition “Embodiment++” will be at Shibuya’s Civic Creative Base Tokyo [CCBT] from September 16 to November 19.
MPLUSPLUS is known for using LEDs in large-scale stage performances such as EXILE and AKB48, and has participated in performances on “America’s Got Talent.” Representative Minoru Fujimoto has also participated in the Tokyo 2020 Paralympics opening ceremony as a “choreographer of light.”
The exhibition will also feature the first performance work using a giant robotic arm, as well as the first comprehensive introduction of approximately 10 products developed by MPLUSPLUS to date, ranging from early products with 9,000 LEDs and 450 digital numerals to the latest 6.8m long x 2.6m wide fabric display with 17,280 LEDs, including products that visitors can touch and experience.
During the exhibition, talk events will be held to consider the “expansion of the body through technology” with researchers and artists. On September 16, the first day of the exhibition, Fujimoto, Akinori Goto (artist / associate professor at Musashino Art University), and ryo kishi (artist) will present “Art & Technology: Expanding Expression and Scenes in the Next Generation”. On September 29 (Fri.), Fujimoto and Masahiko Inami (Assistant to the President and Deputy Director/Professor, Research Center for Advanced Science and Technology, The University of Tokyo) will present “Experiences and Expressions Changed by Human Augmentation Engineering (tentative)”.
