Born 1947 in Tokyo, Japan. Born in Tokyo, Japan in 1947, musician; made debut in 1969 with “April Fool's Day”; formed “Happiendo” in 1970; began solo career in 1973, also performing as “Tin Pan Alley”; formed “Yellow Magic Orchestra” (YMO) in 1978, providing songs for the music industry and working as a producer and label president; also worked as a producer and label manager. After YMO's demise, he explored world music, ambient, and electronica, composing, producing, and composing film music, among others.

In celebration of Haruomi Hosono’s 55 years in music, this series looks back at his landmark album, HOSONO HOUSE, and explores HOSONO HOUSE COVERS, where 13 diverse musicians reimagine his timeless work. With a look at the rich musical backdrop of HOSONO HOUSE, its lasting cultural relevance, and insights from four contributing writers, the series also features the radio meeting between Hosono and Sam Gendel on Daisy Holiday!, giving a unique glimpse into their first encounter.
