The Poster for ‘Bob Marley: ONE LOVE’ as a Reminder to Cherish Your Neighbors
– Is there anything that has changed your impression of Bob Marley, both as a father and an artist, before and after the production of this film?
Ziggy Marley: The process of making this film has provided insight into Bob Marley’s inner struggles and hardships. There were times when he faced attempts on his life and battled cancer. Even a great and compassionate artist like him may have experienced adversity and trials in life, along with hidden sorrows, anxieties, and fears. He might have even questioned himself and the purpose of his life. Reflecting on these aspects, I’ve come to empathize with him more as a human being and as a father. Bob Marley, like us, experienced both joy and sorrow, navigating the complexities of human existence.
Because of compassion for others, we feel sadness when we see people suffering, and we couldn’t tolerate injustice in society. It’s empathy that enables us to be kind to others. Through this production, I believe I’ve come to understand Bob Marley better.
– In a world overflowing with various issues such as war and natural disasters, I believe ‘LOVE&PEACE’ is a primitive message that we should revisit. What role do you think this film plays in such a situation?
Ziggy Marley: The advertisements for ‘Bob Marley: ONE LOVE’ found throughout the city are not just for promoting the movie. They are advertisements for the ideology of “ONE LOVE.” We want people passing by to see the posters and be reminded to cherish their neighbors. It doesn’t matter if Bob Marley’s figure in the poster is small. Our efforts are about marketing the message of “ONE LOVE,” not just the movie itself. In a time when compassion for others is more necessary than ever, it’s essential to deliver the message of “ONE LOVE” even to those who may not watch the film.
