The Next Decade: Beginning with the Same Excitement as When CHAI Started
What kind of music have you been listening to lately?
KANA: I’ve been listening to healing artists like Hiroki Okano, Buddha’s Lounge, Namaste Music, and music from flute players. Instead of focusing on specific artists, I add my favorite tracks to playlists and listen to those. MANA listens to pop music too, right?
MANA: I listen to a variety of music. I really love Hiroki Okano, whom KANA recommended, and since I started exploring healing music, I’ve also started listening to classical music. Recently, I’ve been listening to Tyler, The Creator’s new album Chromakopia, and I still love Rosalía’s MOTOMAMI. Tyler’s visuals are amazing, and his art direction is incredible—I’m always impressed by it. His live shows are insane too. It’s so cool, and the world he creates is remarkable, so there’s still a lot I learn from him. When we were with CHAI, I would listen to music thinking, “Oh, this phrase could work for CHAI,” but now I just listen because I genuinely love it. I realize just how much I really love music.
When do you usually listen to music?
KANA: I play a playlist while doing yoni steaming.
MANA: For me, it’s usually when I’m traveling or when I’m doing something alone. The Dyson OnTrac has amazing sound. The noise cancellation is fantastic, and the sound comes through directly. It’s similar to the in-ear monitors we use during live performances.
KANA: Yes, it does sound like the in-ear monitors. The noise cancellation is so good that you can’t hear anything else.
MANA: The design is also rugged but cute.
KANA: It’s stylish.
MANA: It’s a fashionable item, and I think it’s new that it’s so specifically focused on music.

Thank you for sharing so many insights today. I’m really excited to see what kind of activities you both will show in the future as you continue to pursue what you’re passionate about. I’m looking forward to the day I can listen to the album too!
KANA: I think I must really love things that excite me. I’ve been unconsciously looking for things that make me feel that way.
MANA: Yeah, it’s funny. It feels a lot like the excitement I felt when we started CHAI. I think this is going to be the start of another new 10 years. I feel like we’re preparing for it now.
So, you both have a desire to nurture healing music over the long term, around a 10-year scale, right?
MANA: Yeah, we’re thinking long-term. We don’t know exactly how things will turn out, but it’s exciting!
