I started playing tennis because I wanted something new, and it is interesting because it is difficult.
Takano:Mr. MARCO, I heard that you started playing tennis last year. What was the trigger?
MARCO:My partner in the office said, “You play tennis,” and I said, “Tennis?” like that. That’s what got me started, and I thought it sounded fun, so I decided to give it a try.
Takano: When you tried it, were you hooked?
MARCO: It was difficult and I couldn’t do it at all. That was the fun part.
Celeina:As expected of Mr.MARCO. You are very skilled at mastering your craft.
MARCO:No, I’m just looking for something new.
Celeina:I am also interested in tennis, but I have not been able to challenge myself. If I want to start playing tennis, should I start by booking a tennis court?
MARCO:Yes. We reserve facilities run by the district, but it is really hard to get a reservation. We apply for 100 a month, and we barely get 2 a month.
Celeina:The reservations for tennis courts are overbooked, aren’t they?
MARCO:Yes, it is. Since it is a lifelong sport, there are a lot of old men and women, so the courts are permanently booked.
Takano: What do you think is the appeal of tennis, MARCO?
MARCO:In my case, it was not so much that I got into it because of the way it looked, but it was interesting when I tried it. The difficulty is what makes it interesting. I really can’t get my serve in, and it always ends up being a home run.
Celeina:Isn’t the amount of exercise amazing?
MARCO:I used to play soccer and basketball, so it’s nothing compared to those. But if you really get into it, it must be amazing.
