#OTHER

Experimental activity of opening the house and getting help with housework.

Celeina: That’s too life-hacky. Recently, you have been working on an activity where you open up your home and ask people to clean it instead of having dinner with you?

Ichihara: I am experimenting with opening half of my home. Three times a week, during the busiest evening hours, I open my house to people who are related to me up to friends of friends, and instead of me cooking, they help me with household chores such as cleaning and tidying up. I think I can really use that dynamic, because if it were my house, I wouldn’t be cleaning the water, but if I went to someone else’s house, I would be concerned about things like that.

Takano: I totally understand! Because it’s someone’s house, you don’t go there every day, and there seems to be a fresh sense of fun when you’re cleaning. Plus, it’s a very good activity because you get to eat food.

Ichihara: If someone who is good at cooking comes, we leave it to them, or if someone who is a de-motivated person comes, even if they just sit on the sofa, they become an interesting presence for the children. We ask the right people to do what they are good at. In any case, I feel that just having them there is meaningful.

Takano: That was an eye-opener.

Celeina: I would love to participate in this.

Ichihara: By all means!

Takano: Let me clean it up (haha).

Celeina: Now, I would like to play a song here. I asked Ms.Ichihara to choose a song that she would like everyone to listen to together on the radio at this time. Please tell us the reason for your song selection.

Ichihara: I chose this song because it reminds us to take our own pace even in our busy days as we experiment with urban lifestyles. It is “Aruite Kaero” by Kazuyoshi Saito.
