INDEX
I cried every episode and watched the awesome “[guess who]” production.
Takano: By the way, I heard that you were recently inspired by the animation of “[The Girl Who Guesses]”.
Fukuchi: Since you introduced me as a “fellow otaku,” I thought I would talk about the anime that has been inspiring me recently (laughs). (Laughs.) Of course, I had read the original story on an app, so I knew everything about it, but even watching it on that basis, the way the story was divided, the camera angle, and the timing of when the music started playing were all wonderful, and I cried while watching each episode. I was crying while watching each episode.
Takano: Do you find a cycle of input and output in your work?
Fukuchi: I think it’s important to remember that even if it’s the same thing, one way of presenting it can completely change the impression.
Takano: That’s a good point. You mentioned the word “fellow otaku” in the discussion of “[guess my child],” but it turned out to be a very creative discussion.
Celeina: By the way, Mr. Fukuchi, do you have any future plans or things you would like to do?
Fukuchi: Recently, I have been calling people who like toys, illustrations, technology, and animation “cultural geeks,” and I would like to create a place like a secret base where such people can get together and enjoy showing each other things they have recently bought. I’ve been feeling the power of a real place recently, so I’m now planning to create such a place.
Takano: I am looking forward to it! I hope we adults will be able to return to our childhood at once when we see your work.
Fukuchi: I am honored.
Celeina: Now, “FIST BUMP” is a circle of friends connected by “go-touch,” and we are asking you to introduce us to your friends.
Fukuchi: Akihiro Miki is a drummer in the band “neco sleep” and a graphic designer.
Takano: I knew of neco sleep.
Celeina: What is your relationship with him?
Fukuchi: We work and play together, but to put it simply, he is a graphic designer with an exquisite balance between offense and defense, so please enjoy his work.
Takano: Thank you very much. I am curious about the balance between offense and defense.
Celeina: Tomorrow, I will be connecting with Akihiro Miki, the drummer and graphic designer of neco sleep. Today, we welcomed Makoto Fukuchi, producer of the creative company “Whatever” and planner of Creative Lebel “nor”. Thank you very much.
Fukuchi: Thank you very much.
