Why Dyson’s Headphone Announcement Makes Perfect Sense
During the product launch event, Jake Dyson, the chief engineer and son of founder James Dyson, presented the story behind the development of the Dyson OnTrac™ headphones.
All of Dyson’s previous products have featured motors that function by pulling in surrounding air. For instance, vacuum cleaners utilize motors and airflow to collect dirt, while hair dryers expel hot air to dry hair. As a result, researching ways to reduce the noise generated by these motors and airflow has been a significant focus for Dyson, with more than 30 years dedicated to this endeavor. The Dyson OnTrac™ headphones embody this technology, showcasing Dyson’s expertise in ‘noise-canceling’ solutions.

Artist Yukkyun, who tried on the headphones at the event, said, ‘I intended to take some photos, but once I put the headphones on, I couldn’t hear anything around me. I was really impressed by the noise canceling.’
The latest Dyson OnTrac™ headphones appeal to both sound quality enthusiasts and style-conscious users. At the launch event, Jake Dyson stated, ‘We released these headphones in Japan, a country known for its iconic street culture, ahead of the global market.’ With Heisei-era music and related culture gaining renewed attention, it’s possible we may soon see the streets filled with creatively customized Dyson OnTrac™ headphones, reminiscent of the era when everything was adorned and personalized.
