#OTHER

From a road lover to a cat lover

Takano: You also have the title of cat photographer, don’t you?

Ogikubo: When I walk along old roads and streets, I encounter cats. When I walk with my streetwalking friends, I am always late for the photo shoot because I get so absorbed in taking pictures (laughs).

Celeina: I guess it’s also a connection that you went from liking the streets to liking cats.

Ogikubo: Cats survive better in old towns. In new places, there is not much room for cats to live. People in the old days were more tolerant, or it was the norm.

Takano: Do you have any tips for photographing cats?

Ogikubo: When you make friends with a child, you squat down and make eye contact. So, when you spot a cat in the distance and your eyes meet the cat’s, you lower your posture and convey with your whole body that “It’s okay, I’m not afraid. Once they understood that, I would ask, “May I have a moment? and take a picture.

Takano: That’s very respectful and wonderful. I think the key to taking good cat photos is to consider the cat’s feelings.

Ogikubo: Whether you take pictures of people or cats, it’s no fun to take pictures of faces that are not relaxed.

Takano: That’s a good reference. I hope all the listeners will put it into practice and take good cat pictures.

Ogikubo: First of all, wait for the cat and don’t chase it. If you chase it, it will run away (laughs).

Celeina: FIST BUMP: Today we welcome freelance writer Kei Ogikubo. Thank you very much.

Ogikubo: Thank you very much.
