Canadian indie hero Mac DeMarco has announced a Japan tour set for February 2026, marking his return to the country with performances in five cities: Fukuoka, Osaka, Kyoto, Nagoya, and Tokyo. The tour follows his growing popularity in Japan, highlighted by his 2017 album This Old Dog and his headline performance at the RED MARQUEE stage during the 2018 FUJIROCK FESTIVAL.
Tickets for the tour are now available via first-come, first-served pre-sale until July 6, giving fans an early chance to secure their spots.
Alongside the tour announcement, Mac DeMarco revealed his upcoming studio album Guitar, his first in nearly six years, scheduled for release on August 22, 2025. The album was recorded in Los Angeles in November 2024 and mastered by David Ives, with Mac himself handling the mixing in Canada. He also took charge of shooting the music videos and album artwork, using a tripod for the visuals.
Mac described Guitar as a deeply personal work, saying it represents where he stands in life right now, created by carefully writing down his thoughts and emotions. He expressed excitement about sharing the album with fans and performing live across numerous locations.
Preceding the album release, the new single “Home” dropped on June 24. Inspired by the concept of “what is home,” Mac wrote the track while at his Los Angeles residence. The accompanying music video was filmed during a canoe trip near his mother’s new home in Canada, adding an intimate touch to the release.
