Fuki Kitamura released her new song “looping second” digitally on Wednesday, May 28.
This track marks a step back from her previous danceable sound, focusing on the theme of “time” and its conflicts. Built with English lyrics and a medium groove, it expresses the emotional landscape of “time that should move forward but loops repeatedly at a certain moment” through sound composition rather than words. Kitamura herself handled the lyrics, composition, performance, recording, and artwork, while the mixing and mastering were done by Ayumu Takesha, who also worked on her first EP, “500mm.”
Kitamura is scheduled to hold her third solo live show on Saturday, June 7, at WWW in Shibuya, Tokyo. The release of “looping second” came as something she wanted to share before the solo concert.
