Hikaru Utada appeared in Episode 546 of the popular YouTube channel THE FIRST TAKE, delivering a special performance of their iconic song “First Love.”
This marked their second appearance on the channel, following her debut in Episode 544 where Utada performed their latest track, “Mine or Yours.” In this follow-up performance, Utada revisited the title track of their record-breaking debut album First Love, one of Utada’s most beloved early hits and a milestone in Japanese pop music history.
The rendition featured a rare and intimate arrangement with Kei Kawano, who originally arranged the song in 1999. It was the first time in their 26-year career that Utada performed “First Love” in a minimalist duet setup with just the two of them on stage.
