In celebration of Haruomi Hosono’s 55th anniversary in the music industry, a digital museum titled “HOSONO MANDALA” is set to open this fall. As part of the first project linked to this, the exhibition “Hoso-san to Hareomi-kun” will be held starting May 31 at the Rikkyo University Life Snyder Hall in Ikebukuro, Tokyo.
The exhibition, hosted at Hosono’s alma mater, will create a dialogue between the “Hareomi-kun” of the past and the present “Hoso-san,” focusing on their enduring love for music, films, and manga. Visitors will also experience an installation that allows them to hear Hosono’s voice through the exhibits, while the world premiere of songs by his high school folk band, “Ox Drivers,” will also be featured. Additionally, a booklet summarizing the exhibition, titled “Hoso-san to Hareomi-kun”, will be available for sale at the venue. The planning and design for both the exhibition and digital museum are being handled by the Japan Design Center Misawa Design Laboratory and its writers.
In addition, on July 19 (Saturday), a concert featuring CHO CO PA CO CHO CO QUIN QUIN will take place at the Royal Festival Hall at the Southbank Centre in London. This concert is part of ESEA Encounters, a festival dedicated to showcasing arts and culture from East Asia and Southeast Asia. Tickets for the event can be purchased via the official event website.
