Yuta Orisaka has announced the release of his new EP “Straße”, set to drop on May 7 (Wednesday). This marks a significant milestone for Orisaka, who is currently on his first-ever hall tour, “The Waltz of Those Left Behind”, which features a string quartet and a total of 11 performers.
The creation of “Straße” was inspired by Orisaka’s visit to Germany in June 2023, where he worked with engineer Shin Ooshiro at the Bonello Tonstudio. Initially intended as part of a larger album, the EP evolved into an independent work, themed around a “travelogue” that reflects the essence of “streets” and “alleys.” The title “Straße” (meaning “street” in German) encapsulates this journey.
The six-track EP includes new songs like the folk-rock-inspired “Trampoline,” the soft psychedelic folk tunes “Takobutsu” and “Tomodachi,” and a re-recorded version of “Akebono (2023)” to mark Orisaka’s 10th anniversary in music. The EP also features “Nagi (In Berlin),” a version of a track from his album “Jumon” before it was officially arranged, as well as “Sabishisa (For Tobi),” dedicated to Tobias Ober, the house engineer who contributed to the project. The CD package design includes photographs by Masayuki Shiota, who accompanied Orisaka on the recording.
The EP was available for early sale at the Tokyo performance of “The Waltz of Those Left Behind” on April 4 (Friday) and will also be sold at the Osaka performance at The Symphony Hall on April 11 (Friday). Pre-orders for the CD are now open at various stores, and customers who purchase the CD at select outlets, including A!SMART, will receive a special sticker as a first-come-first-served bonus.
