The film ‘Civil War’ will be available for streaming on Prime Video starting December 6 (Friday).
Released in Japan on October 4 (Friday), the film is set in a near-future America where 19 states secede from the federal government. Amid growing national divisions, a civil war erupts between the western alliance of California and Texas and the government forces. A team of four journalists, including war correspondent Lee, travels over 1,300 km from New York through the war-torn landscape to Washington, D.C., where the president is holed up in the White House.
The film has garnered attention not only for its gripping storyline but also for A24’s record-breaking production budget. Known for producing hits like ‘Midsommar,’ ‘Everything Everywhere All at Once,’ and ‘The Zone of Interest,’ A24 poured its largest budget yet into this film. Directed and written by Alex Garland, whose previous works include the screenplay for ’28 Days Later’ and the Oscar-winning visual effects of ‘Ex Machina,’ the film set a new opening record for A24 when it premiered in North America on April 12 (Friday), earning the studio’s highest-ever opening and securing the top spot at the box office for two consecutive weeks.
