Nothing is as important as health. Long and healthy life for everyone (Fujitani)
– Fai-Fai works on a new play every two or three years, but do you have any plans for the future?
Sasaki: I don’t have a goal that I want to become like: I think that we have been able to do what we do because we don’t have a goal that we want to become like. During a busy period, there was some talk about turning it into a company. But nobody wanted to be responsible for it, so we decided not to do it. That’s the way everyone is involved, so I try not to have a passionate desire to be like this. Also, the things that I worked really hard on in preparation for the discussions for the work usually become unimportant during the discussions.
Fujitani: I understand!
Sasaki: Pleasure is not something that is thought about in an individual’s brain, but rather it is something that is created through relationships. I think this is one of our weaknesses, and that is why we have been able to continue this kind of relationship for so long. That is why I am always anxious about whether I will be able to do it again (laughs).
(laugh).
Sasaki: No one knows if a work will be done or not, and when it is done, it is like some kind of miracle has occurred. I don’t really know. 2022’s “Calling You” was also a bit of a scare for me, because it was just like “It’s done. ……
Fujitani: Now I can’t even remember how it was completed. For me, it is a very important opportunity to create works at Fai-Fai, so I would like to continue, but if you ask me how I would like to be, would I say that I would like to be …… healthy?
Sasaki: Yes! I don’t want you to die yet. Everyone should stay healthy, both physically and mentally.
Fujitani: From the past, Fai-Fai has not had anything in particular to convey. It is a method to cut out and deliver a personal feeling at that time, so it is very hard to make it into a work of art. I am always prepared for it. That is why health is important. I am most happy when I am praised by people of Fai-Fai, so please live a long and healthy life. I want you to be healthy. I want to be healthy.
– Audiences can only participate in the play for about two hours, but that’s wonderful. It doesn’t always have to be amazing stories or acting, but going to a theater and receiving something from the stage is really important.
Sasaki: That’s true. I understand that.
– It doesn’t only happen in the arts but also occurs in daily life, even when we cook. I would be happy if I could strongly feel that.
Fujitani: That’s a good point.
