NiEW’s free-entry live series “exPoP!!!!! Vol.179” is set to light up Spotify O-nest in Shibuya on Friday, December 26, bringing together four fast-rising acts with sharply defined sounds, presented with support from TuneCore Japan.
The lineup spans genre boundaries and generations. Tokyo-based quartet DOGADOGA, formed in 2023, blends post-punk and jazz with Latin and Afrobeat rhythms, pairing tight musicianship with a playful edge. Their debut EP “Ah!”, released in August 2025, marked them as one of the city’s most intriguing new bands.
Also appearing is KEPURA, a four-piece that began as high school classmates and has steadily built momentum since 2020. After making their major-label debut with “Kiseki”, the band rebooted in 2025 under the name KEPURA and released their first major album “Abduct” in December. A nationwide tour kicking off in January underscores their renewed drive.
Completing the bill are two younger voices shaping the next wave. CheChe, a four-member band formed by friends during their student years, crafts songs that fuse Britpop and UK rock with funk, dance, and indie sensibilities. Their latest digital single “Pie” arrived in October. Meanwhile, Zabuton Ninja, selected through a TuneCore Japan audition, brings bright pop instincts to the stage. Active since March 2025, the university-based quartet released their debut single “B132” in August and has quickly gained attention from early adopters.
Admission to “exPoP!!!!! Vol.179” is free with advance reservation and a two drink minimum. Performances by DOGADOGA CheChe and Zabuton Ninja will also be streamed live on YouTube.
