Tokyo live venue POLARIS is relocating from Kanda to Minami-Aoyama, reopening on November 7.
Originally opened in 2022, POLARIS has built a reputation as an inclusive space under the concept of “no one left behind through music.” The venue features accessibility-focused facilities, including an ostomate restroom and discounted admission for people with disabilities, and has hosted a diverse range of artist — from ambient and experimental acts to singer-songwriters such as Ayano Kaneko, Saho Terao, and Mahito The People.
The new Minami-Aoyama space features interior design by Hirokazu Yamazaki, guitarist of toe. To celebrate its reopening, the event Far East Network Special will be held on November 7, bringing together Otomo Yoshihide and eight other artists, with Otomo leading the inaugural performance at the new venue.
On November 8 (Saturday) and 9 (Sunday), POLARIS will host its 3rd-anniversary event, POLARIS 3rd ANNIVERSARY FES.
The first day, themed “SONG RINGS,” will highlight vocal-driven performances featuring Butaji, Ayaka Tatano of Homecomings, Itaru Uchimura of Yuransen, and Uki. The second day, themed “DEPARTURE,” will welcome familiar faces to POLARIS, including Yuji Katsui, Mitsuru Nasuno, Oto Fukuhara, and Yuta Hosono.
In conjunction with the relocation, POLARIS has also launched a crowdfunding campaign to support the new venue.
Rewards for supporters include an all-access pass valid for every live show at POLARIS, as well as original merchandise designed by artists such as Seiichi Yamamoto. The crowdfunding campaign will remain open until Tuesday, December 30.
