SM ENTERTAINMENT JAPAN is set to debut its first-ever girl group, GPP, with the digital pre-release single “Bring it Back” dropping December 16.
The eight-member Japanese group, with an average age of 21, comes from a wide range of backgrounds, audition show contestants, top dancers, actresses, and models, after around a year and a half of training. The lineup features RINKA (Rika Ando), HONOKA (Honoka Ito), ANAMI (Aha Ozono), MOMOKA (Momoka Kurita), MIKA (Mika Takamiya), MIA (Mia Newbie), SARA (Akira Miyazaki), and LUNA (Runa Watanabe).
The group’s name carries a layered meaning: “G” stands for Genkai toppa (breaking limits), while “PP” symbolizes Paper Plane, representing their journey of growth, resilience, and ambition to break norms and soar from Japan to the world.

Produced by Shim Jae-won, former SM ENTERTAINMENT performance director behind acts like TVXQ, SHINee, Girls’ Generation, EXO, Red Velvet, aespa, and RIIZE, alongside TRAX’s Jay Kim, GPP’s debut single blends multiple genres and reflects the members’ determination to face any challenge—a bold declaration of their arrival.
Ahead of their debut, the documentary “GPP Fly: Cliff-Edge Paper Plane Takeoff” will air on BS Fuji on November 29 at 1:00 AM, chronicling their training and journey to the stage. The first episode premieres on GPP’s official YouTube channel on November 14 at 8:00 PM.
The group’s first live showcase, “GPP Debut Showcase Live”, will take place in Tokyo on December 15, marking their official introduction and expressing their resolve to take flight.
