The hit manga “Left-Handed Ellen” by Kappi, which has sold over 3.9 million copies and inspired both a live-action drama and stage play, is getting a TV anime adaptation set to air from April 2026.
Set in a world buzzing with creative talent, the story follows Koichi, a young creator struggling with his own limits, and Ellen, a solitary genius burdened by extraordinary ability. The series explores their clashes, growth, and relentless pursuit of their dreams.
The anime is produced by Signal.MD (“Words Bubble Up Like Soda Pop”) and Production I.G (“PSYCHO-PASS” series), directed by Toshimasa Suzuki (“Fafner – Heaven And Earth”), with series composition by Taku Kishimoto (“Haikyu!!”). Character design is led by Takayuki Goto, Yuka Fukuchi, and Akane Tamai, while music is composed by Pasocom Music Club.
The newly released teaser visual shows Ellen spray-painting with the moon behind her, and the teaser PV hints at a decade-long story of rivalry, growth, and creative passion between Koichi and Ellen.

Story
As high school life enters its second half and everyone begins seriously thinking about their futures, Koichi Asakura dreams of becoming a designer and aiming for art school. One day, he is struck by a graffiti scrawled on a museum wall. The artist is Ellen Yamagishi, a left-handed high school girl who has suppressed her own talent since a past incident.
Through drawing, the two gradually recognize and inspire each other. Koichi begins his path toward becoming a designer, while Ellen embarks on her journey to become a painter—but their creative paths are just beginning.
