“Stranger Things” Stars and Creators Head to Japan for Exclusive Fan Event

Ahead of the November 27 release of Netflix’s Stranger Things Season 5, a special fan event will be held on November 22 at Livedoor Urban Sports Park in Ariake, Tokyo, featuring select cast members and the show’s creators.

The event celebrates the final chapter of the hit series, which follows a group of kids, their families, and friends as they confront the mysterious “Upside Down” threatening the small town of Hawkins in the 1980s. Netflix recently teased the upcoming finale with a video showing city names invited to “the final adventure,” including Tokyo.

The visiting cast includes Finn Wolfhard (Mike), Noah Schnapp (Will), Gaten Matarazzo (Dustin), and Caleb McLaughlin (Lucas), alongside creators the Duffer Brothers. Finn and Gaten previously appeared at the Crunchyroll Anime Awards in Japan in May 2025, while Noah and Caleb return to Japan for the first time in six years since Season 3 promotions. Finn, a longtime fan of Japanese pop culture, has also visited the country privately multiple times and enjoys classics such as AKIRA and Cowboy Bebop.

This fan event offers Japanese audiences a rare chance to meet the stars and creators in person before the highly anticipated final season arrives.

Creators Matt and Ross Duffer are visiting Japan for the first time with Stranger Things in tow. Both self-professed anime and gaming enthusiasts since childhood, the Duffer Brothers have revealed that iconic Japanese works such as AKIRA and Silent Hill served as key inspirations for the series’ central concept, the “Upside Down.” Their Japan stop follows appearances in London, Berlin, Paris, Istanbul, and Brazil.

The duo will appear on stage at a fan event on November 22 at Livedoor Urban Sports Park in Ariake, Tokyo, which will also feature an exclusive early screening of the first episode of the final season.
